On this episode of Straight Up With Stassi, Jackie Schimmel joins Stassi to chat about reality TV, marrying strangers for money, and making out with Rob Kardashian at Disney On Ice.
“Hindsight is 20/20.”
“This is what reality TV can be good for,” Stassi begins. “Because it also does ruin lives.”
“It’s for crazy people,” Jackie says. “I mean that with love.”
“I know, I know,” Stassi replies. “It also is like a mirror into yourself, or a relationship, or a friendship. Now that I’ve watched Vanderpump Rules and seen these scenes with my ex-boyfriend, I’m like, ‘What was happening?’”
“Hindsight is 20/20,” Jackie says.
“How did I? What?” Stassi stammers. “I was in so deep, but now that I think about it, it was like that all the time. That wasn’t just an edit.”
“He was so condescending,” Jackie says. “I would think — and I don’t know him or whatever — but I’d think that if you were on camera, you’d want to represent the very best version of yourself.”
“Right? And he’s just…” Stassi sighs. “At least be fake.”
“Be Prince Charming for a few fuckin’ minutes,” Jackie says.
“It’s just a scene that’s a couple of hours, and then you can go right back to being your dickwad self,” Stassi says. “That is just poor planning.”
“It’s just not manipulative at all,” Jackie adds.
“Which is what weirded me out,” Stassi says. “When I watched that scene during my birthday when he told my friends, ‘She can go bang other people, just as long as there’s no emotional connection.’ First of all, I wasn’t aware of that, he never told me that to my face. I would have been bangin’ dudes for four years.”
“Left and right, slingin’ dick,” Jackie laughs.
“I would have had so much fun — so that’s annoying,” Stassi says. “That’s when I was like, it is so easy if you don’t film all the time to not be an asshole. He had to film, what, five times? It’s the easiest thing because you know there’s a camera.”
“And then have everybody love you and praise you?” Jackie adds. “That’s what I would do.”
“Yeah,” Stassi says. “So at least now I can look back and be like, ‘Well those years were a tad wasted.’”
“You know I made out with him once?”
“I can’t stand Rob Kardashian,” Jackie says.
“He’s not on [Keeping Up With the Kardashians]!” Stassi yells.
“I hate his face so much,” Jackie says.
“He’s not on it,” Stassi repeats.
“You know I made out with him once?” Jackie asks.
“I told you this! Did I not tell you this?” Jackie asks again. “Yes, I made out with him once.”
“If you told me this, I buried it,” Stassi says. “How? And why and where?”
“Okay, I met him at a holiday party when I was an intern at a television show, and for some reason he was there,” Jackie says. “He asked me out, we went to Disney on Ice…”
“You went on a date!?” Stassi yells. “I would lead with that, because when you say, ‘I made out with him’ it sounds like you were drunk at a party and made out with him.”
“I mean, I left the date,” Jackie explains.
“Rewind,” Stassi says. “First of all, Disney on Ice?”
