On this episode of Straight Up With Stassi, Katie Maloney-Schwartz joins to chat about Meghan Markle, Stranger Things, and pregnant people.
“People don’t deserve you.”
“So Meghan Markle went to Wimbledon twice, and then all of the sudden, everyone was writing these articles about Meghan, blasting her because her camp said, ‘No photos are allowed in all of the arena.’ So no one could take photos. And she was sitting in the private VIP box that people are saying, ‘The people pay for this.’ Like, Meghan didn’t have to pay for it, the people pay for her to sit there, so she should allow photos,” Stassi explains.
“I don’t like when anyone thinks they have access to your life like that,” Katie says.
“People don’t deserve you,” Stassi agrees. “She has to be in those seats for her safety.”
“Yes,” Katie says. “She didn’t go on Ticketmaster and pick what row and seat she wanted to be in.”
“Her team is telling her exactly where to go, and this is where you sit, and this is where you’re going to be safe, and we don’t want photos and everyone’s phones out because it’s an invasion of privacy,” Stassi says. “I know, I hate going in to SUR and I hate going in to Tom Tom — I love the bars themselves, but like, I don’t like the feeling I get when everyone’s phones are out all around me.”
“I would rather meet and have a conversation with everyone than just take pictures all night long because it feels informal,” Katie says. “Then I feel like people make me feel like I owe it to them.”
“I don’t owe anything,” Stassi says.
“It’s so presumptuous to think you deserve access to my life and to me like that,” Katie continues. “No, I put my life out on a television show everyday.”
“When I’m alone and not filming and you want to be all up in my shit and taking videos of me and acting like I’m a cobra at the zoo? That’s not what I signed up for, actually,” Stassi says. “In fact, when I signed up for this, iPhones and taking videos of everything wasn’t as much of a thing. So no, never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d walk into a bar and every single person’s phone is out and they think they’re entitled to zoom in on your pimple. That’s never been something that I thought I’d have to deal with. That’s stressful.”
“Meghan Markle is a person,” Katie says. “Can she just enjoy something without everyone feeling entitled to taking a picture and taking a piece of her with them? I know it’s exciting and it’s great to know that people are fans and they love you and everything like that, but it’s really invasive sometimes.”
“I’m so ready for this shit.”
“If we’re pregnant at the same time, can we be extra obnoxious?” Katie asks Stassi.
“Just have joint everything?” Stassi asks.
“Remember Father of the Bride 2 when they’re both pregnant at the same time? Can we do like, that?” Katie says.
“Yeah! Has that been done? Have two influencers ever done that?” Stassi asks.
“No,” Katie answers.
“Alright, you need to get on the baby-making train,” Stassi says. “I’m getting on the baby-making train.”
“Alright, alright,” Katie concedes.
“It is what it is, you’ve just gotta do it,” Stassi says. “We’re of the age where it’s like, ‘Let’s just get this going.'”
“I like when you say, ‘We’re of the age,’ and not, ‘We’re getting old,'” Katie says. “I appreciate that.”
“No, yeah, we’re just of the age where it’s like, ‘This is the right time,'” Stassi explains.
“When I tell people I don’t have kids, they’re like, ‘Well, how old are you?’ And I’m like, ‘Um, 33,’ they’re like, ‘Okay.’ Thanks for the vote of confidence,” Katie says.
“It’s not about running out of time, I think we’re of the right age to where like, we have our shit together,” Stassi explains
“I own a house!” Katie agrees.
“Life is in order as much as it can be, we’re in good situations,” Stassi continues.
“I mean, I’m still like, figuring some shit out, but yeah, listen… I know people say, ‘There’s never a right time to have a baby,’ but there is definitely a better time than a year ago, or two years ago. If there’s ever a time, this would be the time,” Katie says.
“I just really want us both and Brittany to get on it,” Stassi says. “I’m so ready for this shit.”
