So here is the skinny on this FAB look: The Cape Dress. Last month, I had every single outfit very meticulously planned in advance for each and every fashion show or event I was going to attend during New York Fashion Week. They were all in separate bags, carefully labeled and ready to go. But while I was there, I was invited to an extra show by a wonderful new friend. So OBVSSSSSS I panicked. I didn’t have any extra back up outfits!! (And now I seeeeeeriously know to always have back up outfits). I was staying with one of my best girlfriends, Taylor Strecker, and she introduced me to this absolutely GENIUS idea of turning your coat into a dress. I mean, I tore her closet apart trying on dress after dress after skirt after blouse. Ughhh, you get it. After many high anxiety moments and PLENTY of moscow mules (yup, the cocktail, not a shoe), she threw a cape on me, cinched it with a belt, and saved my night. Luckily, I had my favorite over-the-knee boots with me and the outfit came together like God had planned for it himself. You guys HAVE to try this. And just an FYI, when you cinch the cape, be sure not to put the belt around the whole thing, otherwise you won’t be able to move your arms. You put the belt through the armholes so that it just cinches the front of the waist, not the back. How easy and effortless is this? And it totes still looks high fashion. 😉
