With designer Rebecca Vallance (how stunning is she?!?!)
Welcome to my first NYFW Spring/Summer 2016 blog post! I took a red eye last night back to Los Angeles and I am EXHAUSTED…. and slightly depressed I’m still not in NYC (it’s my happy place). Of course, my already very late flight was THREE hours delayed (seriously, thank goodness for wine & xanax), and I didn’t get into L.A. until 3 am. It was also raining, I was alone with 3 suitcases… had to be up at 8 in the morning… DEF not ideal. But I am back, and have tons of wonderful things to post for you guys! While I was in New York, I also filmed a ton for an awesome and (may I add, hilarious) behind the scenes of fashion week video that I will be posting in the next couple of weeks.
Can we talk about the fabulous Australian designer who is Rebecca Vallance, now?!
Things were a little different this fashion week, because Lincoln Center is no longer the NYFW venue. It wasn’t really the same, but there were some amazing shows, nonetheless. For the most part, designers choose to do runway shows, but Rebecca Vallance chose a presentation style show instead and I have to say I was a fan of that format. Yes, runway shows are incredibly exciting, and there is that magical theatrical element, but with presentations, the designers are able to meet the attendees. The experience is so much more intimate, and I found it to be so much more relatable. A gorgeous successful designer is taking selfies with editors, bloggers, celebrities, etc… it’s just plain cool, honestly.
The second I met her, I fell in love with her down-to-earth graciousness, but her presentation? INCREDIBLE. I’ve already always been a fan of a 1970s vibe, and she modernized it in such an easy to wear way. I also appreciate an outfit that has a good cinched waist, and the skirt I was lucky enough to wear fit like a glove and made me feels SOUPS skinny. Basically, Rebecca Vallance is a master at easy effortless glamour. (I think my fave look is that orange-red long sleeved top with the matching pants). Check her out, you guys!
